Well, I have few good 64 games (none of them RE), but for my GC its, RE Zero, Re1, and of course RE4.
I just picked up Resident Evil (1) up for my gamecube yesterday at blockbuster used for just $15, and to top that off, there was a BOGO 1/2 off sale so I got Eternal Darkness for only $5.
Well my favorite Survival horror game is probably RE1. The Graphics are amazing and it has extended gameplay just for Nintendo Gamecube.

The only other Resident Evil game I've played is Resident Evil: Code Veronica (so shouldn't that game be RE4?) for the Dreamcast. The graphics were nice and the action was tense, but I didn't get to far thanks to all the puzzles. I didn't care for the controls either.
The only other survivor horror game I've played was Eternal Darkness for the Cube. Unlike the RE games till RE4, this one has perfect controls and the fun insane effects. Although there were some great imagery for when you started going insane, I felt there could've been more. It's also pathetically easy once you've gone through it.
The best one is still RE4, though. The enemies are everywhere, so it felt like a different kind of survival horror. What I would really enjoy is a whole game like the opening village scene in RE4, a constant stream of enemies while you run around dodging them and taking advantage of the interactive environments. I'd suggest a MMORPG, but I don't have enough money or internet speed.

Oh the horror never ends!!! I was playing RE1, and was walkin' around and a zombie dog jumped out of a window and scared the crap out of me! I felt like having to post this.
The RE controls for gamecube are pretty much all the same (I'm not sure about dreamcast), and as for Code Veronica, just explore, explore, explore. Res 0 by the way is an exelent RE to break you into the Series.
