Well, we’ve finally got some solid official news regarding the Xbox 360. Although we still don’t know when it’s launching (it’s undoubtedly going to be November around Thanksgiving) we do know how much it’s going to cost. It’s going to be launching at $399 with the system, 20GB hard drive, controller, and some cables mainly. If that’s too spendy for you, they are also going to be selling a different version for $299 that doesn’t come with a hard drive. But since the hard drive will cost $99 to add to the system, you might as well just go for the $399 version because it comes with extra stuff on top of that. www.gamespot.com/news/2005/08/17/news_6131245.htmlSo unless you won’t be missing much from not having a hard drive this pretty much kills me for getting one this year. Four hundred for a system and sixty bucks for a game is too much at the moment. Hopefully the high price is mostly to give them some leverage to drop the price a bunch once the PS3 launches. Speaking of which, although we don’t know how much it’s going to be we do know that the PS3 is going to cost a lot more. I can see it launching at $399 to $499 without its hard drive, which will cost you another $99 for it as well. All that unnecessary power and unnecessary new disk format is really going to cost you. And not to leave out the Revolution, apparently they’re going to be revealing a little more information about it this week, possibly as soon as Thursday. As more facts about the other systems are set in stone, the more Nintendo can let out theirs at strategic moments.

You were gonna get a x-box 360? Why? BLOOD TRAITOR!!!
After reading the article I spoke 3 words: "Microsoft is crap". Theres nothing I want on that system. Nothing I need. However, the thing that cought my eye was the Ps3 stuff. The article said that the Ps3 may not be released till 2006 or 2007, which means a very long console cycle, if released in 2007. A very long console cycle. I'm guessing 6, 7, possibly 8 years. Which has its pros and cons.
Pros: -Long console cycle= cheap game systems in the middle of the cycle.
-Time to save and buy your console later on in the cycle.
-upgrades for your console
Cons: -possible x-box 360 Ownage (hopefully not).
-boredom with the console for that long period of time
- um..I can't think of anything else

Blood traitor? For buying a Microsoft video game system? I sure hope you’re using a Mac to write that email. Really, I own all Nintendo systems except the NES, the original GBA, and the original brick sized Gameboy B&W. That includes the Virtual Boy and two Gamecubes. The only non-Nintendo system I own is a Dreamcast. I think my blood is think enough to withstand other systems. But really, what’s wrong with owning other systems? If you buy good games on good systems, then we’ll have more good games on good systems
My interest in the Xbox360 comes from the fact that I’d rather have one of those then a PS3. The PS3 is going to be freaking expensive, unless they take a huge financial hit to bring it to a low price. Of course, Microsoft is even richer, so they can afford an even bigger hit. Also, at this point the X360 controller looks very nice and the PS3 one hurts my hands just looking at it. My only incentive to getting a PS3 is because I own two PS2 games, but I’d rather just get a PS2 once that becomes dirt cheap.
Of course I’m going to get a Nintendo Revolution, there’s no doubt about that. I need to play Nintendo’s games because they’re the best. But the Revolution is going to be a different kind of system that’ll play different games. If I ever feel like playing a more powerful and “normal” system, I’d rather go for the X360. It’s a video game system, not some super computer that’ll have more options then anyone will ever need or have a need fore. Though I don’t like how the X360 will probably have the loud, obnoxious, thinking-they’re-cool-when-they’re-just-annoying fans. That’s why I don’t like how video games are becoming mainstream. But that’s a different topic in and of itself.
In my opinion, the undoubtedly high price of the PS3 will knock it back, making the Xbox360 and Revolution catch up some more, especially if the Revolution has a far lower price (I’m thinking $199) and really fun games you can’t play anywhere else. I’m getting one, and I’m still waiting to hear more about the system. You can’t beat Super Smash Brothers Online.

I see your point on ever wanting to play "normal" games, and I too will probably end up getting an x-box 360 after thinking about it a little, *sigh*, probably because it'll have those games that are supposed be all multi-platform but wont because of the Rev's controller. Also, why does it matter if I was writing that email on a Mac?
O yeah, I have the original GB b&w, but how'd ya get your hands on a virtual boy?

I got me a Virtual Boy shortly after it came out for $150. Shortly after that it was discontinued and selling for $15. Oh well. It has some pretty fun games but it hampered by, you know, hurting your eyes after a few minutes of gameplay. I’m not even sure if it’s working anymore. Tiss a shame, some of those games I would like to play. I actually probably won’t end up getting an Xbox360 because I have enough systems to get games on. I’d just prefer that one over the PS3 because the Xbox360 has less features on it that I won’t need. But unless Nintendo drops the ball on the Revolution (which I’m sure they won’t) I’ll probably just be satisfied with that. Also, why does it matter if I was writing that email on a Mac? I dunno. I just find it funny when people complain about Microsoft while using their PCs.

amazon.com France just recently gave a release date for the Revolution, June 15th 2006, priced at $365 (european $). They say since the Gamecube came out 6 months later in Europe, that It may come out in 2005... But who believes amazon after what happened to Zelda? visit this site for more: revolution.dcemu.co.uk/

Well, if it did come out June 15th, that would be a cool b-day present for me, since my b-day's two days later.

I apologize in advance, this'll be a long post:
I have nothing against the other consoles. I am only getting a Revolution, though.
But I can see when people say there was hardly any 3rd party support for the Gamecube. I look at my GCN game collection, then look at my N64 game collection (Maker of game in Parenthesis):
GCN Collection, in order of purchase: 1. Pikmin (Nintendo) 2. Super Smash Bros. Melee (Hal Laboratories) 3. 007: Agent Under Fire (EA) 4. Super Mario Sunshine (Nintendo) 5. Animal Crossing (Nintendo) 6. Starfox Adventures (Rareware) 7. Mario Party 4 (Hudson) 8. Phantasy Star Online Episodes I & II (Sega) 9. Metroid Prime (Nintendo) 10. Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (Nintendo) 11. Legend of Zelda: Windwaker (Nintendo) 12. The Sims (EA) 13. Doshin the Giant (Param) 14. Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour (Camelot) 15. F-Zero GX (Sega) 16. Mario Kart: Double Dash!! (Nintendo) 17. Namco Museum (Namco) 18. Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life (Natsume) 19. Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures (Nintendo) 20. Pikmin 2 (Nintendo) 21. Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door (Intelligent Systems)
Now, my N64 list (this time, in no order): Super Mario 64 (Nintendo) Mario Kart 64 (Nintendo) GoldenEye (Rareware) Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire (Forget) Mischief Makers (Enix) Turok 2 (Acclaim) Bomberman 64 (Hudson) Bomberman Hero (Hudson) Banjo-Kazooie (Rareware) Banjo-Tooie (Rareware) Majora's Mask (Nintendo) Tony Hawk's Pro Skater (Activision) Perfect Dark (Rareware) Diddy Kong Racing (Rareware) Mario Golf 64 (Camelot) Mario Tennis (Camelot) Mario Party 2 (Hudson) Starfox 64 (Nintendo) Rampage World Tour (Midway) Top Gear Rally (Midway) F-Zero X (Nintendo) Gex 3: Deep Cover Gecko (Crave Entertainment) Mortal Kombat 4 (Midway) Paper Mario (Intelligent Systems) South Park (Acclaim) Pokémon Snap (Nintendo) All-Star Baseball 2000 (Acclaim) Yoshi's Story (Nintendo) Super Smash Bros. (Hal Laboratories)
9 of my 21 Gamecube games are made by Nintendo. Of course, that's not even half, but all the third party games were from different companies, meaning I have more games by Nintendo than by many different third parties.
7 of my MANY N64 games are made by Nintendo. I have many N64 games by Midway or Acclaim or Rareware.

Well we certainly know for a fact that the revolution will not be coming out anywhere this year. Last week at that German gaming convention thingy they reiterated that it’s coming some time in 2006. And I’m quite sure the Revolution won’t cost that much, though that is French dollars. I still stand by that the Revolution will be around $200 and will either come this spring or, sadly, wait for the Christmas season of 2006. I also don’t think many developers have had enough time with the Revolution for a 2005 launch.
Of course, Nintendo could be working with huge secrets and NDAs. Though I don’t know if suddenly releasing a system (including controller, specs, games, and more) in such a short time would be good for it. They need to build up a hype for this machine, because the Xbox360 and PS3 already have hype for being the “cool” thing to buy.
They also need to get those 3rd party publishers on board. I’m glad that Namco is for the Rev because they can make some good games, but I’m sad that Silicon Knights isn’t because now I would need a X360 for the Too Human games. It would be nice if the Rev wasn’t another Gamecube in, like you just said, nothing but Nintendo games.
I guess we’ll just have to keep patiently waiting, and hope that the Revolution comes out this spring. Because it looks like Zelda might be the only HUGE Cube game yet to come out, and that can’t support a system till Christmas of next year.

I never heard of the too human games... what are they?

Rareware has only made 2 games for the Xbox: Grabbed by the Ghoulies, and Conker: Live and Reloaded, which is basically a remake of Bad Fur Day.
Though Rareware makes games for Microsoft now, they still make games for Nintendo's handhelds. They made at least 3 or 4 GBA games after Microsoft acquired them.

Two interesting things have already developed at the Tokyo Game Show already. 1. The Xbox360 is launching November 22nd 2. The Nintendo Revolution controller has been revealed. www.gamespot.com/news/2005/09/15/news_6133335.htmlBoo-yaa! The controller looks like a remote control that you hold in one hand. Underneath is one button you use like the Z trigger on the N64 controller. On top is another button and a D-pad. The bottom has a port where you can attach extra stuff, the first being a control stick. And finally, the remote as a whole doubles as a pointing device that can sense movement as to where you’re pointing it at the screen. Looks very interesting, unique, and I-can’t-wait-to-try-this-able. Now lets start hearing about those games and when it’s all coming out!

Wow. Looks different, but in a good way. Its way cool for having a trigger button again. Just think of fishing in the new zelda games? Casting form with your arm. Controlling Mario? Guiding movements with your arm. Running away from legions of zombies? jogging formation with your arm! Theres some things buttons cant do. For everything else theres Revolution.

At almost every other forum, lots of people complained about the look of the controller. That's it. The LOOK.
Don't judge a book by its cover, kids. I personally think it looks cool, and will work well with the Revolution.
