Yes, Teh indeed!
I’ve been meaning to write this for a while, and having drunk too much caffeine tonight, I decided to sit down and write about the great Warioware series. For those who don’t know, you people should be ashamed!
Now that the insult out of the way, the Warioware series is large groups of mini-games that can be completed in about three seconds. The catch is that they do only give you three seconds, and then another game, then again, and it keeps going faster and faster until you mess up too much. It breaks up every so often with a boss mini-game that’s tougher but has no time limit. And that’s it. The games are all grouped up together in themes with their own setup and theme music.
And now, I think I shall take a look at all these games. Think about it won’t you thanks
Warioware Inc.
Gameboy Advance
The first one was a masterpiece unlike anything else before it. Fast paced craziness that got you addicted for weeks. The games were fun. The only controls you use are the direction pad and the A button. All the setups worked very well, from the Gameboy 9-Volt world to the awesome song in Kat & Ana’s stage. Best of all, each of the setups are very different from each other. Some are basic, some are mind puzzles, and some have themes that work well.
The graphics are all over the place from stick drawings to 3D to claymation and beyond. It’s all very original and fun. The music pieces are a blast. There aren’t many things to unlock, but there are some great games. The most notable ones are the old fly swatter game from Mario Paint and the strange but fun Pyro game. This is probably the best game to start with because it was the first and is simple enough to get into the whole groove of the game.
Warioware: Party Games
Gamecube
This one isn’t a regular Warioware game as it were. They took all the mini-game from the original Warioware Inc game and when crazy making party games with them. And oh, what games they made. There’s the basic, where each person does a game and if you fail you loose. There’s the complicated, where you have to line up numbers are win certain games and shoot rocks or something. And there’s the weird, where you balance on turtles between gaming sprees.
Honestly, I haven’t played the game much. But from what I have played it is a lot of fun … if you have three other people to play with you. There’s also a sixteen-player jump rope game, but that’s different. If you just have one person playing, it doesn’t look to be nearly as fun. Also, it can be a little unbalenced when new players are going against ones who have every mini-game memorized. They also could’ve done something to make it more graphically pleasing, and not almost just a GBA player. Still, if you’ve got a group of friends over looking for a ton of party games, this is one defiantly to get.
Warioware Touched
Nintendo DS
If you live in America, this is the next Warioware game that was made, but I’ll talk about that in a minute. At long last, we have a new Warioware game! And it is … dependent on who’s playing it.
Personally, I was disappointed in Touched. It had everything the first version had. It had 250 mini-games … no wait; this one only has 180. It had the games coming at lightning speed … no wait; this one only moves at half the speed of the original. It had great themes and setups … no wait; it divided everything up by the exact way to play (only poke, slice, rub, breath on) which gets old, and the displays aren’t as creative. There are some great things to unlock … no wait; it’s just a few toys to get a small amount of amusement out of. So … yeah, this one’s not nearly as good.
At least, I don’t think it’s as good. For people who’ve never played a Warioware game or hardly even ANY games (as in little kids) this game is an absolute BLAST! I think it must be the DS. All that touch screen mini-game action is fun and unique. There was also something else that later annoyed me in this game, and for that I bring you too …
Warioware Twisted
Gameboy Advance
Now, here’s the thing about this game. Even though it came out after Touched, it was made and released in Japan before it. Nintendo just released Touched in America first to fill the lack of DS games and hold off on Twisted for a while. And once you know that, you can see that Touched just ends up ripping off a few of the mini-games and even setups from Twisted. Boo-hoo.
But enough about that, let’s go on to Twisted. Ah Twisted, what can I say about Twisted except that it’s the best one yet. That’s right, I feel that Twisted even blows away what I thought was the near perfect original. First off, you don’t use the control panel in this game, oh no! It has a built in motion sensor (and rumble pack to let you know it’s moving) that can sense when you tilt the system left and right. And it’s with that the developers went wild in making some unique and clever games.
Everything missing from Touched is back in Twisted. Tons of mini-games (one ones in the last set-up could be entire games in and of themselves), awesome setups (just the first real setup/theme has a catchy song that’ll have you hooked), and blazing fast speed (its even harder then the original). And the unlockable mini-games? Wow. There’s tons of stuff to unlock! Although most of it is one time fun games like Touched, this time there are about two dozen actual mini-games. And ones like Apple Wars (shoot tiny Warios onto invading apples), MEWtroid (your like Samus’s cat, rolling around with an arm laser shooting bugs with mustaches), and the new Pyro bird game are all a blast. Once you know how Warioware goes, get this one you must!
And there you have it! I hope Nintendo takes a break till they make another Warioware game. Can’t have too many or it’ll go stale. But I look forward to the next one with great anticipation. Maybe another party one for the Revolution system with more original games and online. We shall see!
