I got this game for Christmas, along with MKDS. This one's also quite fun.
The premise of the game:
You play as Derek Stiles, a 26 year old doctor who had just finished residency at Hope Hospital, in Angeles Bay. You must help patients by making incisions, removing foreign objects (such as glass shards) from parts, excise tumors and aneurisms, and anything to help the patient live.
You have 10 (technically, 12) tools at your disposal to help patients:
1. Laser (for removing things too small to excise)
2. Antibiotic Gel (for instantly healing small wounds or disenfecting body parts)
3. Suction (for removing liquids, mainly blood)
4. Forceps (for removing foreign objects)
5. Hand (for synthetic membrane placement and heart massaging)
6. Healing Touch (to help slow down time, gotten later in the game)
7. Ultrasound (for finding objects hidden inside organs)
8. Magnification (for zooming in on objects you cannot operate on far away)
9. Scalpel (for making incisions)
10. Sewing needle (for suturing up incisions)
11. Syringe (mainly used for keeping vitals up)
12. Tape (for finishing up the operation)
The music isn't that great, but it fits nicely with the situations in the game.
It is rated T, so there are a few things that would definitely turn off little children:
Its brutal difficulty
The fact that it can get a little gory at times (not enough to make someone lose their lunch, though)
There is some questionable language, but nothing too dirty
As I had said, the game has a very steep learning curve. The beginning operations are fairly simple, but you will need almost lightning-quick reflexes to tackle some of the later missions. Though, because it's so innovative, it does encourage you to keep trying, instead of annoying you to the point where you just leave it on the shelf to gather dust.
Any operations you complete will be unlocked in challenge mode, where you can try and earn higher grades.
If you're into Simulation/Strategy games, this'd be a perfect addition to your collection.
